This blog is dedicated to ALL rescues...
Everybody knows that a rescue dog always holds a special place in our hearts. Well this holds true to me as well. This is my Siberian Husky rescue. I rescued her back in October of last year (2017) from the dessert of Saudi Arabia. She was living in 122 degree weather and had never seen snow in her life. Word has it, she came from part of the Royal Family over there and her rescuers named her Amera which means "Princess" in Arabic. I absolutely fell in love with the name and decided not to change it when she came to live with me and my family. She did not have it easy over there but since I have gotten her, her life has gotten much better. The first few weeks weren't easy. Amera would hide in her crate, would barely eat her food, and she would not want to go to the bathroom for more than 12 hrs at a time. She was very shy and scared, she did not like to be touched. She was also not treat motivated for any basic training. I myself am a Basic Obedience Level 1 dog trainer and I even brought out the big guns for treats (steak, cheese, hot dogs, etc..). She would not eat any of it, not even from my hand. From the first day forward I knew it was going to be a long road ahead but with a lot of love and patience I knew she would come around.
I would like to start off by sharing Ameras journey with everyone in honor of all rescues, because all rescues need love and healing and a place to call home. This blog is for them.
Also please note: I am a few months behind on making this blog so I will be posting monthly updates starting from last October so please be sure to check on those as well :)
